Recognizing the Face of Jesus Christ

Today Pope Francis received a bunch of audiences – all of them prelates. Additionally, it was reported that Pope Francis met today with the head of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), Bishop Bernard Fellay. Another source reported that meeting actually took place yesterday evening.

Today at St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis presided at the Funeral Liturgy for Cardinal Georges Marie Martin Cottier and then over the rite of Last Commendatio and Valedictio.

Additionally today, at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis led a prayer vigil for Divine Mercy (full text, full video, summary video).

Also today, Pope Francis made a bunch of appointments, sent a tweet:

To be merciful means to grow in a love which is courageous, generous and real. (link)

and posted to Instagram:

Do not be afraid. Open wide the doors for Christ! (Saint John Paul II, 16-10-1978/ 2-4-2005) (link)

And that’s the Pope Francis news for the day!
