Today at St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis presided at celebration of the Passion of our Lord at which Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, Preacher of the Pontifical Household, gave a homily (full text, full video, summary video).
In the evening, Pope Francis traveled to the Colosseum in Rome, where he presided at the Stations of the Cross or Via Crucis (full text of meditations) and he concluded the ceremony with a prayer (full text of prayer, full video, summary video).
As well, as a part of the Via Crucis, the Papal Almoner accompanied by some volunteers distributed sleeping bags throughout Rome to those sleeping on the streets — as a small gift of Pope Francis. Pope Francis continues to lead and aid people across the planet Earth to understand God’s plans and adopt them.
Also today, Pope Francis sent two tweets:
Impress, Lord, in our hearts the sentiments of faith, hope, love and sorrow for our sins. (link)
The Cross is the word through which God has responded to evil in the world. (link)
and made three posts to Instagram:
The commemoration of a drama of love which gives us the certainty that we will never be abandoned. (link)

Everything in these three days speaks of mercy. (link)
And that’s the Pope Francis news for the day!
