|Pope Francis shaking hands with Eugenio Bernardini, Moderator of the Waldensian Church, Turin, Italy, June 22nd, 2015.|
Today Pope Francis continued his journey in Turin, today being his second day there. He returned to Rome this evening.
Today at about 9:00 a.m. in Turin, Pope Francis visited a Waldensian Church (wikipedia page). At the church there were several speakers and then Pope Francis spoke (full text, full video, summary video), asked them for forgiveness of the Roman Catholic church for persecuting their church so much over the centuries, and he spoke of that even in ecumenical unity, non-uniformity is an important and valued part of the picture of Christendom:
Unity, which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit does not mean uniformity. In fact, even brothers and sisters have a common origin, but they are not identical.
I love Pope Francis!
Afterwards, he traveled back to Archbishop Cesare Nosiglia’s home where he had a family reunion with about thirty relatives, and he had Mass and lunch with them (summary video). Also at the archbishop’s residence, Pope Francis met with about twenty immigrant refugees and asylum seekers, and hung out for a while with members of the Committee for the Shroud Exposition and with organizers of this particular visit to Turin, and then flew back to Rome at about 5:30 p.m.

Also today, Pope Francis made an appointment.
And that’s the Pope Francis news for the day!
